Moving through education and figuring out your own path in life, can be a tough and daunting experience. This time can be even more challenging if you've had to grow up in an environment which was or still is, difficult, turbulent, lonely or fearful to live in. Having to deal with the pressure of exams and expectations, whilst trying to figure out who you are and what you want, can all add to feelings of being overwhelmed. All of these things can hold you back at this crucial time of transition, change and decision making.
Depression and anxiety can often be the result of unresolved trauma or emotions from the past. Self harm, drug and alcohol abuse can be used as ways of escaping some of these pressures or unresolved emotions. If life is becoming a struggle and everyday living is becoming more and more difficult it might be time to stop and ask for help.
